Björn Meij is a Dutch veterinarian, professor and European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery (Diplomate ECVS), a qualification he has held since 1993. He currently heads a team of specialist surgeons and serves as an ECVS residency programme coordinator. Professor Meij is well known for his research in orthopaedics and neurosurgery.
Co-Speaker: Dr. Lara Matiasek DVM, Dipl ECVS
Dr. Lara Matiasek is a veterinary neurologist and neurosurgeon at the LMU Small Animal Clinic, where she heads the neurosurgery service. She trained at LMU Munich and the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket, UK, and has held senior roles within the ECVN. Her clinical and research interests include neurology, neuroinflammation and neuro oncology.

This intensive workshop offers participants a unique opportunity to expand their knowledge and practical skills in the diagnosis, planning, and surgical management of complex spinal conditions over three focused days. Participants will develop a detailed understanding of diagnostic imaging, surgical planning, 3D planning, implant selection, and fixation techniques for cervical and lumbosacral spinal conditions as well as spinal fractures. - Caudal cervical spondylomyelopathy and diagnostic imaging of thecervical spine
- C-LOX® implants, instruments, surgical planning, and application techniques
- Degenerative lumbosacral stenosis and diagnostic imaging of the lumbosacral spine
- Surgical planning, 3D planning, and the use of 3D guides
- LeiPED pedicle screw rod fixation and LeiCAGE intervertebral cages
- Imaging, management, and treatment of spinal fractures from the cervical to the lumbosacral spine
- LeiLOX locking plate fixation and pedicle screw rod fixation
